PITTARO, John Joseph 1941-2013

It is with deep sadness that we mourn the sudden loss of John at the young age of 72. John died of heart failure while on the golf course, surrounded by some of his closest friends. Survived by his soul mate and loving wife of 48 years Pat, his 4 loving children which were his pride and joy: Laura (James Abbey), Matthew (Andrea Grinham), Andrew (Jessica Moody) and Erin (Brian Walker); his 10 grandchildren Evan, Justin, Natthan, Myles, William, Olivia, Kori, Maya, Ashley and Jordan; his sisters Angela and Rose; his mother-in-law Ann Hunter whom John was never too busy for. John was predeceased by his brother Mario and his parents Regina and John Sr.

The most loving and loyal husband, a strong and inspiring father to all, a kind and gentle brother, the best ‘Uncle Buddy’ to his many nieces and nephews, an honest and true friend to so many and the most adoring and caring Papa to his grandchildren whom he absolutely cherished – Papa always had a candy in his pocket! Words cannot express how much he will be missed by all.

There is so much to say about John. He was a fantastic athlete. Big John loved to play hockey and golf, and in his younger years baseball and football. He loved to spend time fishing whether with his children and grandchildren, his friends in Florida or just quietly on his own.

John loved his work and was admired and respected by his peers. He founded Acra Concrete Services in 1980 and was always proud that it was done with members of his family. After a lifetime in concrete restoration, he was an expert in his field and was often asked to consult on major projects.

John spoke often of his love for his friends from Park Extension where he and Pat grew up together, his many friends in Hudson where they have lived since 1977 and raised their family, his hockey and golf buddies that were such good friends to him.

Funeral services will be held at St-Thomas of Aquinas Church, 413 Main Road, Hudson, Quebec at 12:00 noon on Friday June 21, 2013. A reception will follow at the Hudson Community Centre located at 394 Main Road in Hudson.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Montreal Children’s Hospital, NOVA Hudson or Le Pont/Bridging Hudson Food Bank, all charities that John held close to his heart.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Heather Clyde, Mike Thibault, Lee and the staff from the Lakeshore Hospital’s ICU for their kindness and attention to John and all of the family. We are so grateful for the love and care that he received.

Thank you for being a part of our lives, John. Your love and wisdom has touched so many of us and our lives have been made better because of you.
