NOEL, John Howie 1931-2017

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of John Howie Noel on January 27, 2017 at the age of 85 after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s.

He leaves behind his one and only love, his wife of 60 years, Rita Hodgson, his five children, Wendy (Terry, predeceased), Linda, Jim, Kathy (Keith & family), and John (Suzie), his grandchildren, Ashley (Dan), Megan, Jennifer, Corey, Jamie, Jacob, Jonathan and his great grandson, Cole. Howie also leaves behind a brother Jack.

Howie was born in Massachusetts on March 30, 1931, but spent most of his life as a proud Canadian after relocating to Canada when he was four. Growing up in Dorval, he was active in many sports including rowing, baseball, football and hockey.

At the age of 20 he joined Air Canada where he worked his entire career up until 1985 when he retired after 33 years. While he began his career as an aircraft mechanic, he quickly progressed into maintenance training and management, but his heart would always remain on the hangar floor as a mechanic.

Over the years, Howie and Rita were fortunate to be able to travel to many countries around the world enjoying many unique experiences such as travelling through France in a VW minivan with their kids, walking the Great Wall of China or riding camels in Egypt. However, he was happiest at his cottage in the Laurentians, where he could enjoy the peacefulness of nature while spending time with his family.

The family will be receiving condolences on Saturday, February 11, 2017 from 1:00pm to 3:00pm at F. Aubry & Fils Funeral Home in Hudson. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to NOVA Hudson, www.novahudson.com
