JOHNSON, Raymond 1948-2024

Reverend Raymond Cecil Johnson passed away after a brief illness on March 1, 2024 at the age of 76 while surrounded by his beloved family.

Ray is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Linda, and his children Dawn, Craig, Cheryl, Nathan, Scott (Catherine) and Stephen (Marisa), as well as seven grandchildren whom he loved dearly Sofia, Jack, Carl, Bryce, Grant, Shayne, and Thomas. He is predeceased by his parents Arthur Johnson and Kathleen Francis, and his brother Lawrence Johnson.

He faithfully served as a pastor for thirty years, serving in several churches in Ontario and Quebec, and leaving a legacy of solid teaching and impacted lives. He was a joker, a fun-loving storyteller, a creative woodworker, and dedicated family man. He was an avid sports enthusiast, loved the Seattle Seahawks and never missed a Jays game if he could help it. He consistently and avidly watched hundreds of games in which his children and grandchildren participated. Although he struggled with health problems in the latter half of his life that limited his communication, he continued to impact people in his own quiet way. He is loved and will be dearly missed by many.

A memorial service will be held at Westview Bible Church on April 13, 2024 at 2 pm, and will be livestreamed here.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to church21.ca or the Slavic Gospel Association (sgacanada.ca).

I was blessed to have Ray as a valuable member of our church at West Island Baptist. His counsel and timely sense of humour were valued in my ministry.
