On Saturday April 25th, 2020 Jeannette Gray passed away peacefully at her residence in Pointe-Claire. She was 97 years old.
Jeanette was born May 10th, 1922 to Saidie and Said Shaar who immigrated from Lebanon.
She was a well-loved lifelong Hudson native. She finally gets to go home to her beloved home town that she referred as her “little piece of heaven” to be laid to rest with her husband D’Arcy Gray and her son David. Mom loved her family, her house, her yard and her vegetable garden. Some of her favorite things to do were the Wednesday night dinners at the yacht club, her bridge groups, and faithfully reading the Montreal Gazette.
She is survived by her daughter Linda Fischer and her husband Gary, their children Michelle Manning and her husband Will, Matthew Johnston and his wife Nora, Benjamin Fischer and her great granddaughters Sadie, Emilia and Darcy as well as many nieces and nephews.
We will share plans for a celebration of life ceremony at a further date.

Linda, Your mother was such a good friend to my Mom. They shared a love of gardening and loved going to HYC dinners together. We can still picture her puttering in her garden but always taking the time to stop and chat with people walking by. Our sincere sympathies to you and your family.
My deepest sympathies to you Linda and your family. A wonderful lady whom I knew most of my life. My thoughts and prayers are with you,
Linda, so sorry to hear this news. Your Mom was a lovely lady. It’s never easy to lose anyone, especially a parent. Thinking of you and sending hugs.
I’m so very sorry to hear of Mrs Gray’s passing. She was a lovely lady full of spunk! Her home and her yard were most precious to her. She will be missed
Linda, I am so sorry to hear about your mother. She was a sweet person and so devoted to you and David.
We go a long way back. I remember your Mum made us hot dogs with potato sticks every Saturday. Your dad built the skating rink in the winter and we played in the shade of a the tent in the summer. Swinging on the swing set and teeter-totter…and countless hours playing dress up in the basement. I remember Nat King Cole playing on the radio and your dad reading you the comics from the paper as you sat in his lap… So many fond memories. ? I hope you and your family are happy and well.
Please accept my sincere condolences…RIP Jeannette…
My heartfelt condolences to Linda and extended family. Jeanette held a large place in my heart when I was a child. Her son David was my best friend and neighbour when I was a boy and Jeanette was always making sure we didn’t get into too much trouble. Somehow she always knew what we were up to. My wife and I visited Jeanette many years ago at her house on Cedar. It was a last minute decision and we arrived with no notice. But Jeanette was thrilled. She made some tea and we had a nice long chat with her. She was a very kind and generous lady.
