With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Brenda at the age of 66, on Wednesday, October 12, 2022, due to complications arising from cancer. She is lovingly remembered by her husband, Arne Alfheim, her siblings Tom (Lia), twin sister, Debbie (Barry), Jim and John, and their families. She was a devoted aunt, sister-in-law, cousin, friend and niece to Aunt Gertrude. Predeceased by her parents, John Dunne and Kathleen McDonough.
Brenda’s long-time passion for genealogy brought her great pleasure, especially in the last year of her life, because she was able to author and publish a book about the McDonough side of her family. She loved family and through her genealogy research; she continued to grow her family by finding more and more cousins, all of whom received her as one of their own. It was hard not to like Brenda.
She and her husband, Arne, became de facto grandparents to all their nieces and nephews hosting all their birthday parties and Christmas and Thanksgiving and Easter and just-because parties. Lifetime memories were made at their loving home.
Brenda’s laughter was unforgettable. Like her paternal grandfather, she shared his dry-sense-of-humour. She also had boundless energy and would help friends and neighbours at a moment’s notice.
Brenda is irreplaceable, leaving a huge void in our family. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Cremation has been entrusted to F. Aubry & Fils Funeral Home in Hudson.
Respecting Brenda’s wishes, we will hold a celebration of life so that we may all come together, comfort each other, share some stories and all the joy of Brenda’s life, which is her legacy to us. This will be held on November 5, 2:00 to 4:00 pm, at the reception hall of St. James Anglican Church, 642 Rue Main, Hudson, QC J0P 1J0
