D’AMOUR, Léo 1929-2023

It is with sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Mr. Leo D’Amour in his home in Laval on November 23, 2023 at the age of 94.

Leo was predeceased by his wife Monique Bastien D’Amour, his grandson Pascal Bredin and his sister Thérèse D’Amour Brunet. He is survived by his children Danielle (Neal Bredin), Lyette, Paul (Gulshermo Jumaeva), Jean (Judy Emberg) and Louise (Gustavo Belissario), his grandchildren Jaclyn, Raphael, Eric, Jay, Kurt, Holly, Collin, Carl and Laura, his great-grandson and his sisters Berthe and Béatrice.

At 20 years of age, Leo joined the RCAF in 1949 which gave him the opportunity to travel the world, something he enjoyed tremendously. While enlisted in the forces, he was transferred to Ottawa, Summerside, Trenton and Bagotville. After retiring from the Canadian Armed Forces, Leo moved to Chomedey where he worked at the aviation division of Rolls-Royce in Montreal for ten years before fully retiring. Leo lived the rest of his days in Chomedey.

Leo was a highly respected marksman, winning numerous matches, competitions, and awards worldwide. Not only was Leo on the Canadian rifle team, competing in Canada, England, South Africa, USA and Australia for several years, matches have been named in his honour due to his consistent excellence in this sport. He was very proud to have had the opportunity to meet Queen Elizabeth II, while competing in Bisley, England.

As per Leo’s wishes, a private ceremony will be held in his honour with his children and their spouses only.
