On December 7th, 2023, in her 101st year, Lilian passed away peacefully at the Vaudreuil-Soulanges Palliative Care Residence. She is predeceased by her beloved husband Dennis ‘’Con’’ of 71 years, her eldest son Michael, son-in-law Stephen Shaar and five sisters. Memories of Lilian will be cherished by her children David (Christina), Pat (Al Smith), Terry (Lee), and Sharon (Mike Schofield), her 13 grandchildren, her 20 great-grandchildren, her two surviving brothers, many nieces and nephews and her dear friend Dennis Copley.
Lilian was born and raised in a large family in Folkestone, Kent, England where, at 19, she met the handsome RCAF pilot who she married in 1942. Shortly after, they moved to Canada and raised five children. She was an avid curler and golfer, and an active member of St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Whitlock Golf and Country Club, Hudson Yacht Club and the local Legion. Although they lived in Hawkesbury, Ontario for several years, and wintered in Florida for two decades, Hudson, Quebec has always been their home base, since 1957.
The family extends its deep and sincere thanks to Dr. Len Welik, the amazing nursing staff of NOVA Hudson, the doctors and nurses of Vaudreuil CLSC and the exemplary staff and volunteers of the Vaudreuil-Soulanges Palliative Care Residence. You weren’t just her caregivers, you were her friends.
A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, December 13th, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Hudson. Should you wish to offer the family condolences in person, they will be available at the Church on that day at 10:30 a.m.
At Lilian’s request, no flowers please. If you wish to make a donation in Lilian’s memory, please consider NOVA Hudson (novahudson.com) or the Vaudreuil-Soulanges Palliative Care Residence (mspvs.org).
