AIRD, Betsy 1956-2024

On April 20th, 2024, Betsy Aird quietly passed away after a brief and stoic battle with cancer. She was the beloved wife of Peter Lang; cherished mother to Sarah (Brett); grandmother to Yonah; much-loved daughter of Barbara and the late David Aird; sister of Susie (Clifford) and Mary (Chris); treasured aunt to Tyler (Ashley), Alicia (Nathaniel) and Katherine; and great-aunt to Marshall. Betsy was a cherished sister-in-law and aunt to many in the Lang family.

Betsy grew up on the Aird family farm in Hudson Quebec.  While Betsy’s career path was very eclectic, she eventually settled on a career as a CPA and held progressively senior roles concluding as a Controller before she retired and moved back to her roots in Hudson.

Betsy made friends wherever she went and kept in touch with her many friends and family everywhere.  She loved to travel by many modes of transportation, including train trips across Canada, a trip on the Queen Mary with her Aunt Joan, and Peter and Besty’s countless miles in their RV.  She was a committed volunteer with the Hudson Village Theatre, the Hudson Country Homes Tour, and NOVA.

An avid sportswoman, Betsy enjoyed riding, skating, and skiing.  She was a member of the Hudson Yacht Club and Whitlock, where she enjoyed curling.  Betsy was an artist, a photographer, and had an immense love for Indigenous art.  Most of all, Betsy loved to sit in front of a bonfire and enjoy the outdoors.

The church service will be held at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, Hudson, QC on Monday, April 29th, 2024.

A special thanks to the NOVA Hudson Nurses and especially Judy whose compassion and care were so comforting during Betsy’s final days.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that you be like Betsy and volunteer your time at a local charity.
