NASSR, Jody Lynn 1959-2021

On Sunday, July 18, 2021, beloved mother, grandmother, partner, sibling and friend Jody Lynn Nassr passed away peacefully in her Hudson home at the age of 61, surrounded by her loved ones. She was all these things and so much more to so many people: a teacher, a guide, a student, a coach, a listener, a musician, a writer, a reader, a storyteller, a voice of compassion and reason. Capturing her spirit with a word is impossible.

From childhood, Jody spent her life pursuing what was right. She had a strong moral compass and a genuine desire to help others – qualities she passed on to her children. She saw goodness everywhere, and in all circumstances, no matter how trying, she found promise and hope. Her courage was unmatched and inspiring. She was generous in every sense of the term: generous with her time, her love, her wisdom, her care. She had time for anyone and everyone who ever asked for it. She adored music (both as a listener and a performer), socializing, and conversation. She was always smiling, beaming. Her laughter was infectious, and as famously easy to elicit as it was difficult to stop. You knew when she entered a room; she lit it up absolutely. She believed in togetherness and oneness, liking nothing better than when she was surrounded by her family.

Jody had an infinitely inquisitive mind and never stopped searching, questioning, or learning. More than anything, she pursued truth in its various forms, finding the world – and her being in it – a richly mysterious and profound experience. Love was the basis upon which she founded her deepest convictions about the nature of reality and our place in that unknowable design. She taught us that the most enduring of all manifestations was Love, and now that she has passed, this lesson seems to resonate all the more harmoniously in our minds and hearts. Her light cannot be extinguished.

She is survived by her three sons Dylan, Connor, and Jacob; her grandson Clement; her partner in life Gilles and his two daughters Laurane and Jeanne; her sisters Jamie, Jocelyne and Josanne; her brother John; and the many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles that make up the rest of her wonderful family, not to mention the numerous friends upon whom she has left indelible, bright impressions over the years. She will be forever missed, and eternally loved.

Visitation hours will be held on Friday, July 30, 2021, at the F. Aubry & Fils Funeral Home at 28 rue Saint-Michel, Vaudreuil-Dorion, QC between the hours of 1 and 4 p.m.

Please note that due to pandemic restrictions, a maximum of 50 people will be allowed to enter the funeral home at a time. We ask that you anticipate the possibility of a wait and plan accordingly, and thank you in advance for your understanding. We ask that you bring a mask to wear indoors.
